Why was my user test rejected?
User tests are usually rejected for one of five reasons: long silence, skipping through tasks without trying, audio the reviewer cannot hear, copied or one-word written answers, or screener answers that do not match the study. Failing the task is not one of them. On Inflight a study done in good faith is paid in full even if you got stuck or gave up, and a technical failure on Inflight's side is paid for the time you spent.
The five reasons
- Silence. The reviewer cannot tell what you were thinking. Narrate continuously; see how to think aloud.
- Skipping. Clicking "done" without trying the task, or finishing a 20-minute study in three.
- Unusable audio. Background noise, a muted microphone, or a microphone that cut out.
- Copied or empty answers. Written answers that are one word, pasted, or clearly not about the task.
- Screener mismatch. Saying you had never used a product and then showing that you use it daily.
What is not a reason
Failing the task. Getting confused. Giving up. Disliking the product. Taking longer than expected. On every serious panel these are the useful outcomes, and on Inflight they are paid: the payment policy defines good faith as trying the task, speaking your thoughts and answering honestly.
Technical failures
If Inflight's tools fail mid-session and the failure is on Inflight's side, you are paid for the time you spent. If your microphone, screen share or connection fails, Inflight tells you what it could not use and may ask you to redo the study.
Appeals on Inflight
You can appeal any decision by email to support@inflight.review and Inflight tells you the outcome and the reason family. If Inflight suspects a duplicate account, automation or payment fraud, earnings may be held while two named reviewers look at the evidence; support staff cannot approve accounts or lift fraud holds on their own.
Questions people ask next
- Does a rejected test hurt my rating?
- On panels with ratings, yes, which reduces invitations. Inflight does not show customers a rating of you; it reviews each recording for good faith.
- Can I redo a rejected test?
- If the problem was technical, Inflight may ask you to. A test rejected for not trying is not redone.
- How do I know why it was rejected?
- Inflight tells you what it could not use. Email support if the reason is unclear.
